First eating disorder center in Vermont opens amid rising need

Burlington is now home to Vermont's first eating disorder center — The Kahm Center. It opened this past Wednesday and is ready for its first patient intake on Monday, Feb. 27.

People struggling with eating disorders had limited treatment options available, until this past week. The CEO and managing partner of the Kahm Center, Nick Kahm, said that need was putting a strain on patients and health professionals. Kahm said he hopes that the center's opening would change that.

“I’m super excited that we now have that option and people will get that care hopefully sooner, as opposed to having to delay it because they have to leave the state," said Elaina Efird, one of the dieticians at the center.
